Food has always been a big part of my life. My Dad opened the first wine bar in Manchester and my Mum had her own catering company, so growing up I was surrounded by incredible flavours.
At the ripe age of 21 I ventured over to California, trying to make it as a snowboarder. You might have guessed by now, but I never quite made it as a professional snowboarder. Or footballer. Or rugby player for that matter. Despite not hitting the big leagues, playing sports taught me how to eat well.
Being in Cali opened my eyes to the world of healthy fast-food. I conceived a grab and go joint and got close to making it happen, but life had other things in store for me. Fourteen years later, my vision of building a healthy food brand finally came to life.
In 2015, with the help of expert nutritionists, top chefs and some friends who feel the way I do about food, I set up BOL. It’s been a hell of a journey so far, and it’s become pretty clear to us that more than ever we have a responsibility to change the way we eat. Put simply, we need to eat less meat and more plants. It turns out my Mum was right, we need to eat more veg. It’s better for our wellbeing and kinder to the planet.
So, at BOL, we’re on a mission to make it easy for you busy folk to eat more plants, especially when you don’t have the time to cook from scratch. The 100% plant-based meals we’ve created are both delicious and nutritious, completely natural and always tasty. Whether you’re a meat eater or a vegan, we hope you like what we’ve created for you.
I can’t promise BOL will make you jump higher or win any medals, but I can promise it will always be interesting, healthy and delicious. You can also feel reassured in the knowledge that you’re helping make sure there is a half decent planet for us to live on in a few years’ time.
