SuperBOL Monday + Graham’s Green Machine smoothie recipe
Within the heart of Notting Hill and just a hop and a skip from bustling Portobello Road you’ll find our plant-powered family – Team BOL. Typically buried under an abundance of spreadsheets and salads, Studio BOL is a colourful and energetic environment. From Friday’s market lunch to weekly product meetings fuelled with Biscoff waffles, the life of BOL is full of quirky experiments and traditions. Famed above all others is the ritual we call SuperBOL Monday.
At BOL HQ, every week begins with a team huddle. We discuss our priorities for the coming week as well as our highlights from the week past. Our get-together takes place in the heart of the Studio, and in true BOL style, is powered by plants. Every Monday a member of the team rustles up a nutritious (and at times questionable) juice to kick-start the week.
This is usually followed by a game of around-the-world team table tennis, which highlights our unfortunate lack of hand-eye coordination at the early hours of the day. Sipping on smoothies and catching up after the weekend eases us into a pace that will keep us plant powering through the week.
Below is a recipe from our operations manager Graham. His Green Machine juice is a firm favourite from the studio repertoire and is perfect for a January energy boost – thanks Graham!
Graham’s Famous Green Machine
- 120g cups spinach, washed and dried
- 2 ripe pears, cored
- 600ml water (can substitute coconut water or milk of choice)
- 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp. freshly grated ginger
- 2 tbsp. ground flaxseed
Add all ingredients to a blender and pulse on high speed until smooth and silky. Pour and serve with a sprinkle of flaxseeds.
Until Next time,
