What’s BOL all about?
We’re on a mission to make it easy for you to eat more plants, especially when you don’t have the time to cook from scratch. Whether you’re an omnivore or a vegan, we hope you like what we’ve created for you. We want to lead the plant-based movement, inspiring the world to eat more plants.
Where did the name ‘BOL’ come from?
Most of our recipes have been made or served up in bowls for years. BOL is our take on the world in a bowl.
Why is BOL a plant-based brand?
Over the past few years, we have become increasingly aware of the responsibility we have to change the way we eat, both for our health and for the planet. The more we understood the negative impacts of animal agriculture, the more we came to believe we could play a pivotal role in helping the UK eat more plants. We’ve replaced meat-based proteins with plant-based alternatives such as chickpeas, edamame beans and squash, whilst still creating incredibly tasty, nutritious and vibrant meals that contain natural and fresh ingredients. We’ve also removed all dairy from our recipes, making the full BOL range 100% plant-powered.
Our mission is to make it easy for you busy people to eat more plants, especially when you don’t have time to cook from scratch. Moving to a plant-based diet is good for you and kinder to the planet.
Why have you removed cheese and dairy?
When we learned of the environmental impact of the meat and dairy industries we could not stand by. Put simply, we have a responsibility to change the way we eat. By removing all dairy from our range we will save 7 million litres of water, 194 tonnes of C02 emissions, and 91 thousand square meters of farmland. This was the strongest motivating factor. Health benefits are also important: we can get all the nutrition we need from plants, while doing good to the planet.
Our range offers 100% plant-based recipes that are appealing to both meat-eaters and vegans alike. If you'd like to learn more about why we have made this decision, take a look at this blog post by our founder, Paul.

Are you stocked in countries outside the UK?
For the time being, we’re only available in the UK. Expansion is definitely on the agenda, so make sure to stay connected!
Is BOL packaging recyclable?
Yes. All BOL pots are recyclable, although we encourage you to upcycle empty packaging and give it new life. If you’re feeling proud of your up-cycling effort don’t forget to post a photo with the #DontWasteCreate hashtag and tag @BOLfoods. Our Veg Pots can be put in the dishwasher, but Salad Jars can’t (so give them a good wash the old school way).

Is BOL suitable for Vegans?
Yes. All our recipes are suitable for vegans. All our recipes are Vegan Certified by the Vegetarian Society and have the vegan logo clearly marked on pack.
Do you have any allergen-free products?
We avoid using allergen ingredients where possible. We always ensure that the latest information is on our recipe pages and on the product labels, so please check these out for more info.
Do you use additives, preservatives or flavourings?
We will always avoid artificial additives, preservatives, flavourings or anything nasty in our recipes. We only use what Mother Nature has created, so you’ll be able to identify everything on the ingredients list.
Are BOL products healthy?
We develop all BOL recipes in collaboration with acclaimed nutritionist Ian Marber (The Food Doctor) to make sure they are packed full of healthy goodness. Check out individual recipes for a full nutritional overview.
